We are two months old!!!!!
Our second month started with a week long visit from Grandma Patty and Auntie Robyn. I was so grateful to have these ladies around while I was still healing and trying to figure this whole twin thing out! The girls' great aunt Judy also popped by for a visit.

The girls were eating 75ml at the beginning of the month of half breast milk/half Neosure. But towards the end of the month mommy was just about going to commit herself to a nut house with all the pumping and decided to start weaning. The girls slowly started eating less breast milk and more formula until I was done pumping. Luckily I had accumulated a bunch of frozen breast milk so the girls were able to eat that for a little bit longer.
Weaning off the pump proved to be even harder than the pumping itself as I had a nasty bout of mastitis. Not fun at all. I was very thankful to be finished pumping and weaning right at the end of the second month.

This month as I was beginning to feel slightly more human again, I realized that I hadn't left the house in weeks! I decided I needed to make leaving the house (even if it was just to make a quick run to the store) a regular thing or I would go crazy! I was so thankful for Sarah meeting me for my first lunch out at Postino for a few hours. It felt great to get into the real world again. I also got a pedicure that day and was in heaven! Rick and I also went to dinner with my parents to celebrate my dad's birthday at Flemings while Grandma Patty and Papa Mark babysat the girls.
Addie had a difficult time after meals for a few days straight and it occurred to us there may be something wrong. She would literally scream after each meal and spit up a ton. We took her to the doctor and he decided she may have reflux. He gave her a prescription for Zantac (1/2ml twice a day) to see if that might help her. Luckily it did and worked right away. All of the sudden we had this brand new happy baby! I felt so bad that she had to hurt for a few days before we figured it out. She is still spitting up but not as bad as it was. And she's much happier after meals.

We decided about halfway through the month to experiment with letting the girls go a little longer between feedings at night. We still feed them every three hours during the day but let them go as long as they can at night. They were able to make it 6 hours a couple times! We had a really nasty four nights in a row towards the end of the month with constant crying and screaming from both of the girls all night long. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. We were getting pretty sleep deprived and I decided to reach out to my mommy's group on Facebook for advice. They suggested putting the girls in their own room to sleep at night. The first night we did it, they slept all night peacefully! It was like magic!! It has kept up ever since. We still get up every once in a while to adjust the girls or put binkies back in, but it's much better than screaming all night!

At their two month doctor's visit Addie weighed 8lbs and Ella weighed 8lbs 5oz. We couldn't believe our little 3lb 12oz baby surpassed her big sissy in weight! What a great sign that everyone is doing well.
Dr. Gentile told us that since the girls made it passed the 8lb mark, we would not have to treat them like preemies anymore. This was such good news. He said to feed them what they will hold and let them go as long as they can at night. The goal is 8-12 hours of sleep at night. Oh that just sounded like heaven to us! We knew it wouldn't happen right away but just the thought of it being a possibility was so amazing!!!

The doctor also upped Addie's Zantac to 1ml twice a day to see if that would her even more and
switched the girls from the preemie formula to Enfamil Gentelease for gas and fussiness. They did so well with it right away and it seemed to help both of their tummies. He told us the girls should be awake for about 30%-40% of the day. We try to keep them up for one hour and put them down for two. That's about all they can do right now.
One thing Dr. Gentile has been really adamant about it that we keep the girls away from other kids for a while longer. It's been hard because there are so many people we would like to introduce them to, especially their cousins, but it should only be a couple more months we will have to wait.
The girls got their two month shots and I was a wreck! The nurse got a vein or something in Addie's leg and there was blood everywhere! It was so sad. They both cried the hardest I have ever seen them cry before. Uh my heart broke. The crying ensued for the entire evening with Ella. Addie seemed to do okay but Ella was so upset and crying most of the evening.
This month I also mastered the tandem feed! I'm learning to become great at multitasking!!

We enjoyed having more visitors for the girls this month. They love meeting all of their family and friends. We even took the girls to meet Dr. Amols our fertility doctor. The man, without whom, we would not have these two precious babies!
